  • December 2023: UC Irvine’s Initiatve to End Family Violence organized an event on Domestic Violence, Child Custody Litigation, and Firearm Fatality this month. I was honored to be there along with Pierce’s Pledge and presenting on current California and federal legal issues impacting families.

  • November 2023: The U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in U.S. vs. Rahimi, an important case out of the 5th circuit involving a Texas defendant who violated a domestic violence restraining order by having firearms when he was prohibited from having them because of that order. I’ve written about the case here.During oral arguments, I provided legal analysis in real time for an organizational client. Pro Publica published this piece explaining more about the significance of the case and included some of my thoughts. There’s been a tremendous amount of interest and concern about the case, recognizing the dangerous impact on those experiencing intimate partner violence when those who have been violent are permitted to own and purchase firearms.
